gymBuddy Privacy Policy

gymBuddy (“the app”) helps you track workouts using your device’s camera. This policy explains what data the app accesses and how it’s handled.

Camera

gymBuddy uses your device’s camera to detect body position in real time (via Apple’s on-device Vision framework) so it can count reps and give form feedback. Video is processed entirely on your device and is never recorded, stored, or transmitted anywhere — not to gymBuddy’s developers, not to any third party. When you close the app or end a session, the camera feed is gone.

Video Files

If you choose to analyze a previously recorded workout video, you pick the file yourself with the system file picker; gymBuddy does not request access to your photo library. The video is processed on-device the same way as the live camera — it is not copied, kept, uploaded or shared.

Notifications

If you switch on workout reminders, or start a rest timer, gymBuddy asks for permission to show notifications. Reminders and rest alerts are scheduled locally by iOS on your device; nothing is sent to a server.

Workout Data

Your workout history, custom programs, settings (like coaching preferences), and the optional body profile you enter for calorie estimates (such as age, height and weight) are stored locally on your device in the app’s own storage. This data is not transmitted to gymBuddy’s developers or any third party, and is not linked to your identity.

Subscriptions

gymBuddy Pro subscriptions are purchased and managed entirely through Apple’s App Store (StoreKit) using your Apple ID. gymBuddy never sees or stores your payment details — Apple handles billing directly, per Apple’s own privacy practices. You can view or cancel your subscription anytime in Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions on your device.

Tracking and Analytics

gymBuddy does not use third-party analytics, advertising SDKs, or tracking of any kind. No data about your usage is collected or shared with advertisers.

Data Sharing

gymBuddy does not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties. There are no advertising partners, and no data broker relationships.

Children’s Privacy

gymBuddy is not directed at children under 13, and does not knowingly collect data from them.

Changes to This Policy

If gymBuddy adds features that change how data is handled (for example, an optional cloud sync or leaderboard feature), this page will be updated before that feature ships, and the “Last updated” date above will change accordingly.
